River Run Reverse Drive

The River Run Reverse Drive for all River Run Outboard Mud Motors

The River Run Reverse is a more durable and more suited style of reverse drive when compared to regular gearbox style reverse drives. River Run designed a system that utilizes an electric motor reverse drive that provides 20 times the life expectancy of conventional gearboxes of any style. This style of system is unequaled in the Mud Motor Market. Tied into the River Run Clutch System, our reverse drive is activated with a momentary switch giving you full variable power reverse at your finger tips. See it in the above picture:

By pushing the switch, you are activating the reverse drive. When the reverse drive is activated, the clutch system is locked out.

The River Run Reverse Drive System and the River Run Clutch System battery setup is in the following pictures.

The system contains a battery to run the engine. The engine has a charging alternator that keeps the batteries fresh. The second battery is for the Reverse Drive System. There is also a battery maintainer package in the loop that helps keep all of your power up to par! A Type 24 Battery is required for the reverse drive system. Any car style battery of good quality will work for the reverse drive. For the clutch system, a smaller AGM/SLA Style Duracell 12 Volt battery with a minimum of 20 AH is required. This style battery is the same style that is in lawnmowers and can be purchased at any battery store. The large diameter wire is for the reverse drive system and should be connected to the larger battery. The smaller diameter wire is for the engine and clutch system and should be connected to the smaller AGM/SLA style battery.

The Reverse Drive Relay Box can be attached anywhere on the transom of your boat using self tapping #10 screws. Locate the Relay Box where is most comfortable to you. As long as the wires are not stretched or compromised in any way. Battery lug extensions are available through River Run if you are wanting to relocate the battery position to anywhere other than the back of the boat.

Reversing the boat is accomplished by simply pushing the squeeze button right by the throttle mechanism.

New Stand Up Adjustable Handle

We have introduced a new adjustable handle that is a direct replacement for those that are looking for adjustment upwards in 15 degree increments. This new handle also has the feature to stow it up out of the way for working at the back of the boat.  Check out the pictures! This is a nice add on for those that use the River Run multiple types of situations.  This new handle is available as an option on all River Run Outboards.

River Run Mud Motor Handles

There are many questions regarding the proper handle sizing when selecting a River Run Surface Drive Mud Motor. Most fishing and hunting boats have a rear bench seat. Boat manufacturers like Tracker and Lowe use similar locations for the operator’s seat. For this application our standard handle is the one to use.  The standard handle is about 22″ from the center of the transom.   The exception to this rule is if you plan to operate the boat standing. To operate the boat standing, you would use our “Z” shaped handle or “up twist” handle. Our twist handles are 4″ longer and our Z is 8″ longer.

For boat styles that utilize a swivel style seat located in either rear corner, our twist handle would be the choice. The twist handle provides 4″ additional length and has a 30 degree extension that allows the throttle and steering action to be closer to the operator.

Here is a picture of the twist handle:
